| Get off the Beaten path - there's more to Venice than St. Mark's Square and the Rialto. To truly enjoy Venice you can't limit yourself to the major sights and the throngs of tourists. The vast majority of Venice is nearly untouched by tourists, and is wonderful to see. Visit local neighborhood shops and bars. See how Venetians live. Hear the birds sing in little out of the way campos. Once you are away from the throngs of tourists, things are quiet and uncrowded. Campos are almost silent, with only a few echoing voices and the sounds of ringing bells. Little bars along the way sell snacks known as cicchetti, and small sandwiches, with a small glass of wine to locals taking a break from work. This is what everyday Venice is all about. Each tour will last approximately three hours, and will take you to out of the way places in Venice where you can get a taste of the real Venice, literally and figuratively. The pace will generally be slow and relaxed. And we know where to go, so you will not spend your time staring at a map in one of the most confusing cities on Earth. Slow down; stop and look; take a picture; take a bunch of pictures. Look at a detail. There is no rush, you have all the time in the world (well, three hours, anyway). As always, the tour will be just you and your group. You will have an experience that few people get to have, one which you will remember and talk about for many years to come. What to Wear Although one can easily walk from one end of Venice to the other, it is a tiring business, and you should be prepared with good comfortable walking shoes. Also, pay attention to the weather. In the summer it will generally be hot and sunny - wear sunscreen. The majority of the length of the tour, with the exception of an occasional pit stop, will be outside, and you can expect the tour to continue, rain or shine. We recommend you check the weather report for the day and to dress accordingly, and bring an umbrella if it is expected to rain. Click here to check prices or to book a tour |
