There are certain sights you must see in Venice. Although Venice is somewhat compact, and you can walk from one end to the other in about an hour, it is not easy to find your way. The buildings are generally four or five stories tall, and the streets narrow, making it impossible to see things that are close by, or even just around the corner.
The city is medieval in its layout, and there is generally no such thing as "going around the block." There are no blocks. And it can be very confusing associating the map with what you are seeing in front of you. All over Venice you will see people standing around looking at a map trying to find their way.
So, rather than ticking away your time finding things, let us show you the way. We will take you from place to place without the necessity of looking at a map. We will point things of significance out to you, and give you a little history along the way. You will save valuable time, and will be able to get to the essential sights easily and without frustration.
Four Hour Essential Venice: This tour will generally start at St. Mark's Square, where you will have the chance to go into the Basilica and the bell tower, if you like, and walk around the outside of the Doge's Palace, look at the Bridge of Sighs, and visit one of the famous cafe's around the square.
After St. Mark's Square we will ride a Vaporetto up the Grand Canal on our way to experience the Rialto Market, the Rialto Bridge and vicinity, and then go to the Accademia Bridge.
Along the way you will have ample opportunity to take pictures, sample Venetian snacks known as "cicchetti," and to have a little gelato.
Six Hour Essential Venice:This tour will include everything in the four hour tour, plus lunch in a local trattoria, and exploration of some quiet off the beaten path neighborhoods, and a few other gems we like to show off in the course of the tour, which we keep secret.
The tours can be modified and customized, depending on your interests and the amount of time you have. There may be an additional fee for a customized tour, so please contact us with your request.
